This year’s CoralTree Scholar recipient, Peter Goodman, exemplifies passion, resilience, and dedication to the hospitality industry. A non-traditional student with junior standing at the University of Denver, Peter is majoring in hospitality with a focus on food and beverage and restaurant management. His journey into hospitality began at Hopdoddy Burger Bar in California, where he fell in love with the fast-paced environment and discovered the power of exceptional leadership and teamwork.
Although he initially hesitated to pursue a long-term career in restaurants, six years of connecting with people through food convinced Peter that this was his calling. He believes deeply in the narrative and connective power of food and is passionate about creating new and memorable experiences for people from all walks of life.
The CoralTree scholarship has been transformative for Peter, allowing him to focus on his studies and immerse himself in extracurricular activities. As Vice President of the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality, he is committed to fostering inclusivity and leadership in the industry. The scholarship has also made it possible for Peter to save for an upcoming 10-day trip to Japan, where he will study food aesthetics and daily life, further aligning with his vision for a career in food and beverage.
In his free time, Peter loves exploring and trying new cuisines, embracing the CoralTree motto that “Travel is Good for Your Soul.” Congratulations to Peter Goodman, a remarkable individual whose passion for hospitality and food promises to leave a lasting impact on the industry.
